I would just like to let Residents know that a company called Enhance Management (ph:3229 9901) are conducting phone surveys on residents in this area on behalf of the Brisbane City Council.  I was phoned on Friday night (9/10)

In hindsight, I shouldn't have completed the survey as the statements were  sooooo very general and I feel the results could be construed to suit the occasion.   But this was the only way to find out what the BCC were surveying.  I certainly hope that my survey won't be the one that pushes the Bus Depot proposal into the "done" basket.

I read an email from a friend of a friend since, who had also been asked to complete the phone survey.  When he realised at the first statement that it was about the Bus Depot proposal, he asked to have his opposition recorded, they said they couldn't until he had completed the survey!  He refused to complete it and have his results used for unknown purposes.

Here's what I recall - They asked to confirm your postcode and then the suburb (I guess because 4075 covers several suburbs) and no further ID was asked for.

They then read out several statements which you were asked to rate - with 1 being strongly disagree and 10 being  strongly agree.  The first statement was something like - it is easy to commute to the city from my area - so no specifc about the suburb or how the commuting was being done.  I did ask the fellow what sort of commuting were they referring to - was it by public transport or car or bike - he said I was just to rate how easy it is.  There were further statements - My area is easy to get around, There are plenty of employment opportunities in my area, My area would benefit from improved public transport.  I can't recall the details of all the other statements but there was another statement about services in the area (what a statement when Council doesn't provide all services in an area nor plan for them)  and one asking me to rate the area.

Then to questions about the Bus Depot proposal.  Firstly How did I first find out about the Bus Depot proposal? Then, How else did I find information about the bus depot proposal eg newspaper, council letter, magazine(I guess Bmag)information sessions.  Then a statement to rate with 1 being strongly disagree and 5 being strongly agree - The information I received changed my mind about the bus depot.

The rating of a lot of very general statements leaves a lot open to interpretation.  It is very concerning what the results from this survey will be used for by the BCC.  Please consider saying "No Thank You".
